Baby No. 1 (who is almost 19) had no interest in being carried. I also received the same contraption at my baby shower and the idea of carrying around my infant seemed so primitive. So we abandoned the idea. Baby No. 2 (who is almost 7 and came to me at 10.5 months through adoption) practically lived in the baby sling. I did housework, rode the exercise bike, walked all over town, and shopped with her nestled next to me. It was a sad day when she outgrew it. Two different children. Two different situations. I’m sure awareness and popularity of baby carriers made me put more effort into it the second time around.
