Let’s talk about baby registry. Are you worried about what to put on your registry? Relax! Creating a baby registry can be a fun experience and believe me, the time you spend creating one will be appreciated by friends and family who want to get the perfect gift for your baby. I am by no means a Baby Registry Expert, but I am a mom who created a registry and I can tell you what worked for me!
You may be wondering when you should start creating your registry. There is no right or wrong time to create your registry. From what I’ve read, most parents-to-be start registering at around the 12-week mark. If you plan on finding out the sex of your baby, you should wait until after you find out. So long as your registry is complete before the baby shower invitations go out, you’re good to go!
Trying to decide what to include on your registry can be a bit overwhelming. Should you include that stroller you have your heart set on? Yes, you should. While not everyone will be able to purchase the higher-priced items, there will be those who can and will. It’s good to have choices in all price ranges. Some people may not be able to buy you a car seat, but they may be able to buy you all of the washcloths and booties you asked for. I say add any items you need for the baby. If you’re overwhelmed or unsure of exactly what you need, sit down and write a list. (Here is an example of a checklist of items that may be helpful in creating your list.)
In my opinion, it is best to leave some of the more personal items off of the registry. There really isn’t any reason to ask your friends and family to purchase nipple cream or nursing pads on your behalf.
Keep in mind that no matter how detailed or well thought out your registry is, not everyone will buy from this list. When I was having my daughter, I was BOMBARDED with clothes. Dresses, headbands, shoes. So many adorable outfits! I didn’t have to buy her much of anything clothes-wise for the first six months of her life. But I did have to buy almost everything else. It happens. So, be prepared for that to happen.
Now, go forth, create your registry and HAVE FUN doing it!
