Six One

This morning I had to go to the high school to do an intradistrict transfer to keep Ethan at the same school. I was filling out the paperwork and got to the section that asked what grade he was in.

“11th.” I wrote.

And as I wrote it, I had to take a deep breath to fight back the tears because when in the hell did that happen?

When did the little boy who loved to hug me

, squeeze my face and tell me that he loved me so so much turn into the handsome young man who is a junior in high school?

I mean, seriously, when in the hell did THIS happen?

This is one of those things that I can not even deal with because time is a huge jerk who doesn’t slow down even when you desperately need it to because my babies are growing up too fast and I’d like for them not to, please. Also? How did I birth a giant? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

Eleventh grade though.

Our kids are about the same age, my youngest son is 20 and in the Marines and my daughter is going to be a junior in high school also. I don’t mind my kids growing up, I just don’t want to grow old! ha! How is your Marine? Mine, thank the lord got a duty station close to home, for now anyway.

My youngest son is only 6 and it’s already going WAAY too fast. I’ve driven him to and from daycare every day for years, so that’s at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time with him, every day. He’ll be starting 1st grade in a few weeks, and that time will be over. I am so sad about it!

I can totally feel your pain but I am a Grandmother and my 1st grandson is in the 11th grade and he is taller than me also. It breaks my heart that he is growing so fast! Just wanted to tell you that you look absolutely beautiful!

🙂 What big, gorgeous, happy kids you have, Y!

Glad you’re getting settled in the new place, too. Have a great rest of the summer.

Exactly…how does it happen?! One morning my son walks out of his room and is 6 inches taller! Crazy, I tell ya. My daughter is a senior this year – I’m in denial.
You look great by the way!
Best to your children as they begin this school year and as you settle into your new home, one box at a time. ; )

He is a handsome giant! I don’t have children yet, so I can’t relate to that, but I can relate to time being a thief. It just goes by so fassssstttt!! Your son looks exactly the same from when he was a child to now, except in a larger frame.

P.S. How did you birth a giant? Really.
