This Is Me, Setting (Weight Loss) Goals.

Guess what? I’ve gained 20 pounds.

I’m not happy about it, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it. I could write a long, thoughtful post about why I gained the weight, but I’ll spare you the excuses. I gained weight because I’ve not been eating healthy food and I’ve not been working out. (And maybe, just maybe I stopped taking metf*rmin without my doctor telling me to do so and well, I probably shouldn’t have done that.)

Today, I’m putting a stop to being unhealthy and unkind to my body. Today, I stop focusing on the “how I got here’s” and put all of my energy into “how I’ll change going forward.”

Here’s the plan.

I want to lose the 20 pounds I gained over the next 3 months.

How do I plan on doing that?

I’m going to put spiders in all of my food and drinks. Just kidding. Although, not my worst idea ever.

It’s simple, really.

A liiiiiiiiiittle less caramel cheesecake bites and a lot more fruit and vegetables.

A liiiiiiiiiittle less sitting on the couch watching Real Housewives of Everywhere and a lot more running, squats, sit-ups and push-ups.

Also? I will take all medications that have been prescribed to me by my endocrinologist until I am told it’s okay to stop taking them.

Dealing with Hashimotos and insulin resistance and my other health problems makes losing weight complicated, but I’ve done it before, I can do it again.

I will do it again.

Yeah hear me? I’ve got this.

Love it! Yes you can do it, of course you can! I’m in the same boat but I don’t even want to know how much I’ve gained and all because I’ve been eating like crap and have too many excuses to not go and workout. Onward and forward lady! Good luck to you, and to me too 🙂

You do got this!! Weight is a bitch. I’ve gained some pounds and every day I say I’m going to lose it…it’s definitely hard.

I need to get back to healthier eating and more working out too.

    You can do it!! XOXO

You’ve always been such an inspiration. I know you got this. But just in case you think about not getting it? I’m losing too so I’m going to be checking in in you. How’s that for guilt…er, motivation? Heh.

I made a similar decision today–after hearing about my mom simply (well, not so simply, and certainly not easily) cutting sugar out of her diet (to treat candida…) for the last month, and losing 20 POUNDS, I figure if she can do it, so can I. I’ve been working with (and paying for…ugh) a personal trainer since April, and other than toning a bit, I have seen very little results. It is so frustrating. So the next step is a very intense diet, starting next week after the holiday weekend in Cape Cod. I’m starting with a 3-day juice cleanse & hopefully that will re-set my palate so that any food will taste good. Sorry I’m going on and on here…bottom line, I’m really happy to see that you are getting back on the wagon, because you’ve really made some incredible progress in the past, and it’s been so inspirational…I look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the coming months, and hopefully I will make some strides of my own 🙂

You look, now and always, beautiful. Your inner light just shines and shines. The caramel cheesecake and all of that? That’s only details.

Good luck! Me, I’ve gained a ton also but I CANNOT get motivated to do anything. I don’t know how to change my mindset right now and it’s depressing me which cause me to eat more which causes me to gain weight which depresses me…help me! P.S. That is such a great photo of you!

Right there with ya!! Gained back 5 of the 12 lost, but that’s ok, I am back on it. I have a total of 30 more to lose. Just signed up with My Fitness Pal, it is really easy to use. It helps to have “friends” on the site too because then they can see your exercise and progress.

I have no doubt you will do this! I’m sort of in the same boat. A few months ago I said enough is enough and starting REALLY watching what I ate. No more diet soda (WAHHH) organic almost everything, supplements, etc. I was feeling better and then started slipping back. Just yesterday I realized I feel and look like crap and so putting my big girl panties back on…my goal is to get off my metf*rmin, 🙂 AND my blood pressure & cholesterol meds.

Good for you! I too have Hashimotos and thought nothing would ever work in terms of weight loss. I then got engaged and went into panic mode. My fiance and I started The Whole 30 and in thirty days we each lost 13/14 pounds. After the first week the weight really did start melting off. I was so extremely skeptical at first but it works. We cut out lots of foods I thought I couldn’t live without (pasta and bread) but replaced them with good meats and veggies. The first few days are tough but it’s all so worth it. I feel great and look good.
I guess I can no longer make excuses other than laziness if I do get off this plan and stop losing weight 🙂
    Good luck!

Hi, you don’t know me, but I’ve been reading your blog off and on for a few years at least. I felt compelled to mention how much more positive you sound about your weight now than you used to sound. I can remember some times in the past when you gained back weight you had lost and you really beat yourself up about it.
